Diablo 4 trading suspended again as new duplication exploit emerges

Thankfully, the game showers you with loot anyway.

Diablo 4 is looking to bring back players with its second season and while this may be working in some aspects, the new update has had its share of negatives including a new hiccup in the form of a duplication hack.

To answer the item duplication exploit, which players have been abusing since the second season arrived, Blizzard disabled trading in Diablo 4 on Oct. 23. The developers also warned anybody who takes part in the gold or item duplication will be “actioned.” Put simply, if you don’t want to be suspended, it’s a good idea to avoid this exploit.

The exploit that triggered this sudden shutdown—and warning—is very likely the new legendary item and money duplication exploit linked to the seasonal boss.

There’s no exact timeline on when the trading function will be returned to live servers again. In the meantime, Diablo 4 players will have to rely on grinding their own items rather than reaching out to friends for help. Dot Esports reached out to Blizzard to try and confirm an exact return date but has not yet had any formal reply.

While this downtime might annoy some, for most Diablo 4 players the suspension of trading probably isn’t something they’ll even notice. The game has lost a substantial amount of its player base, and even then, trading hasn’t been the most popular feature.

In fact, players reacted to this latest news by mocking the idea of trading within Diablo 4, which primarily is played solo.

If you think you may have traded with someone who took advantage of the new Diablo 4 exploit then have no fear; Blizzard has reassured players in the past that they won’t be actioned against simply for trading with cheaters “accidentally.” While it has been a while since this was said, one would think it would still apply here.

With any luck, trading will be back in a few days and Diablo 4 players can go back to enjoying the new additions from Season of Blood without any interruptions.
